Perhaps no other stage of education carries the same level of opportunity as Sixth Form. There are so many opportunities to enrich and extend learning in all sorts of different ways.
Thomas’s College provides a breadth of experiences that develop lifelong passions and allow students to build the confidence, character and adaptability to succeed in the world.
All Sixth Form students have a weekly games afternoon. Team sports including football, hockey, rugby sevens, netball and cricket are hugely popular, while a huge range of alternative sports, including rowing, squash, rock climbing, golf, road cycling and much more besides ensure that all students can find activities they enjoy and given them opportunities to continue building their physical literacy and find movement during the week.
You don’t have to give up certain passions if you don’t want to take them as subjects for A Level. Students can continue their artistic and engineering expression through Clubs and the Minors Programme allowing them to keep making, building and exhibiting their work and building important creative skills.
Our Dance Programme is available to students of all ages. Our most passionate dancers take their choreography and performance to the highest levels, but there are opportunities for everyone to get into the Dance Studio and get moving!
Co-curricular Drama is very popular in Sixth Form. From musicals to classic plays, workshops and chances to direct or work behind the scenes, all those who love being on stage or involved in production, will find opportunities to do so.
Whether you play, sing or compose, the facilities and opportunities for Music in Sixth Form are exceptional. Our Mac Suite gives students the space and technical equipment to compose or put together tracks. Our ensembles, orchestra, and choirs, including rock and classical, provide ample opportunity for musical development and give several performances throughout the year.
More or less every sporting, musical and dramatic club you can imagine are represented in our Clubs offering, alongside Model UN, Debating, Spoon Carving, and electric car racing – the list is long!
Sixth Form students are encouraged to join or even lead a club that serves their passions and interests. If your passion isn’t on the list yet, then we’ll help you set up a Club and spread the word.
Outdoor Education opportunities are available to all, from trips to the Yorkshire Moors, to the highest peaks in the UK or even to the Himalayas!
We run a hugely popular Duke of Edinburgh Gold programme, enabling students to tackle and achieve the ultimate challenge of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme – one loved by universities and employers.

Community and charity engagement are central to what we do at Thomas’s. Opportunities to get involved only expand during Sixth Form. Students engage deeply with local causes or partner schools, and support our Thomas’s Foundation programmes providing access to education in Nepal and outdoor adventure for students across the UK.
There are always chances to contribute to the local community and to the lives of others.
Much of the activity in Sixth Form is co-ordinated by the Student Leadership team.
Led by the Head Students, the Student Leadership Committee is made up of students who represent the student body across a range of areas including charity, pastoral work with younger years, design and innovation.
Students wanting to take on responsibility and develop their leadership skills will find plenty of opportunities to do so.
