Our Campus
While we are at the leading edge of innovation, and our facilities are immaculate, our wonderful campus is historic: a delightful set of buildings within five acres of leafy gardens at the top of Richmond Hill.
Thomas’s College is a delightful place to live, learn and grow, and offers a wholly new approach to independent education that lives up to the magnificent setting.
Our magnificent dedicated sports ground at Dukes Meadows in Chiswick, supports our programme of major sports, including rugby sevens, football, netball, hockey and cricket.
Students also have access to a superb Fitness Centre on site, make full use of our Sports Dome, and our location, accessing everything from horse-riding in Richmond Park to canoeing, kayaking and rowing on the Thames.
Dance, across a plethora of styles, will always be a major element of Thomas’s life, encouraging self-expression and activity in equal measure. We have a fully equipped, dedicated Dance Studio for curriculum Dance and clubs.
An ambitious programme of Drama opportunities exposes young people to acting, directing, design across set, lighting, sound and costume, choreography, devising and text. We also run a major partnership with Richmond’s world-class and renowned Orange Tree Theatre, supporting their sector-leading community programmes, and giving students access to professional experts and facilities. There are three on-site performance spaces at the College.
From performances in our lovely Recital Hall to the range of choirs, ensembles and orchestras across classical and contemporary music, Music is a huge part of life at the College. It is impossible to move around our campus without hearing singing or instrument practice. The Music and Drama departments also collaborate on regular musical performances.
We are so fortunate to have a dedicated School for Design & Engineering, with practical workshops in a range of materials including metal, and a design studio and Mac Suite exploiting the potential of digital and computer-aided design.
The College has three principal art labs exploring media across 2D and 3D, with a hugely popular Pottery Room and kiln. Students produce breathtaking work in so many disciplines and continue to engage in art making throughout their time at school, no matter what their curriculum choices are.
Our labs are first class and state-of-the-art, with all facilities needed to support ambitious practical work at the heart of our Science curriculum.
We are blessed with a magnificent and historic Library, which students use for games of chess and literary puzzles, catching up on work and reading for pleasure.
The Old Chapel is an innovative space dedicated to thinking, making and creativity. A truly flexible environment, it is used for everything from art and design projects to performances, seminars, discussions and creative experimentation.
Getting the balance right between technology and tradition is crucial to us. As part of this, students work with computers and technology, from network build to robotics, in a dedicated set of computing laboratories.
The heart of our school. A gorgeous tree-filled expanse with students doing everything from playing volleyball, to games they’ve invented, to sitting in deckchairs or lying on the grass and watching the sky. On a sunny day, it is the nicest spot for break you could possibly imagine!
