THE THOMAS’S COLLEGE EXPERIENCE
College Life
You’ll find all the information in these pages about how the College feels: what it is like to learn, work and live in our school, and why it is such an exciting and rewarding community of which to be a part.
When young people join our school, we tell them the four things that we want for them above all:
- Be Kind. Our founding principle and only absolute school rule
- Be confidently yourself in the world. If you can meet the world head-on with quiet assurance, you can do almost anything
- Approach the future with hope and belief. We are passionate about a narrative of hope, now more than ever. The world will be what young people believe it can be. It is our job to help them see possibility, opportunity and optimism for all that lies ahead
- Discover the personal qualities you treasure and give them fullest expression. This is who we are as a school: the place where individuals, united by their diversity of excellence, learn to thrive as themselves

We also give the young people joining our school a ceremonial lemon sherbet. Not just because it is the best sweet in the world! It is a very personal tribute from the Master, Will le Fleming, to a teacher who showed genuine and transformative kindness to him and others.
If we’re lucky, we all remember moments like that from our school days. The lemon sherbet is a symbol that no matter how many priorities we are all juggling, acts of kindness and care will always matter most at our school.
